History of Sacred heart Adoration Convent Storrs, Connecticut, USA At the request of Sr. Glorista SABS who was working in USA, Bishop Daniel Hart , Bishop of Diocese of Norwich invited SABS sisters to Norwich Diocese to work at St. Joseph living Center, which is run by the diocese. Sister Mercy Payakkattu and Sister Brigit Pulikudiyil came to USA in 2003 September. God provided a place for the sisters at St. James Church Danielson. Fr. John O’Neil pastor of St. James church welcomed sisters to the parish and offered a building which used to be a convent. Fr. Cryic Mattathilanickal who was assistant pastor of the parish done a vital part to establish and flourish the convent in Danielson, Connecticut. Sr. Beena Kootianickal and Maria added into the community in 2005 and 2007. All the sisters started to work at St. Joseph living center as they arrived in USA. AS part of the growth of the congregation in 2011 Sisters from Manthavady province brought a house and began a community in Storrs belong to St. Thomas Aquinas parish at University of Connecticut campus. Fr. Cyriac Blessed the convent in January 2011. Bp. Michael Cote, Bishop of Norwich granted permission to start this community and install the Holy Eucharist in the Chapel. We also were blessed with the permission of Keeping the Holy Eucharist in the Chapel permanently by Bishop Jacob Angadiyath (Bishop of Chicago, Syro Malabar Diocese). June 2011 Bishop Jose Porunnedem (Bishop of Mananthavady ) Mother Alice Provincial superior and her counselor Sr. Jose Mary Visited the new house of Manthavady province) July 2011 Sisters Alice Areeckal, Alphonse Kottupallil and Elseena Kappalumakkal arrived in new community. Sister. Lucy Thayil also added into the community 2020 January. All sisters started to work at St. Joseph Living center (Nursing home) as they arrived in USA. Due to the great motivation and hard work of sisters started to expand their work to the hospitals and other outpatient health care facilities. Sisters also being a great witness to the parish by being Eucharist ministers and being part of the parishspiritual activities as needed.
